Edinburgh Fringe favourite Andrew Maxwell is back in 2017 with a brand new hour for you; “Showtime” and this time he is leaving nothing to chance.
Channelling the spirit of his breakthrough award winning Fringe show “This is my Hour”, “Showtime” matches a burning sense of urgency that the times we live in deserve, with a near demonic desire to entertain. If we’ve learned anything over the last twelve months, it’s that you shouldn’t take anything for granted and he’s certainly not going to start with you.
Although probably best known on the Fringe for his eagle eyed passion for current affairs comedy, best showcased in his many appearances on BBC Radio Four, to a whole new generation he is the devilish voice of MTV’s runaway global hit “Ex On The Beach”. He appeal is primetime and all encompassing but always with a mischievous undertow, like a one-man Ant and Dec without an alibi.
“Showtime” finds Maxwell a lot like the rest of the us in 2017, a hostage of fortune. Whether it’s surprise election results, ever changing social manners or robots taking over the future, the world almost feels like it’s spinning too fast to write in advance; so why not sit back and let his ill-behaved curiosity take you on a ride.
Watch out for low flying kitchen sinks, as you can be sure to trust that no matter what happens to us between now and show time.. when this man’s name is called.. he shows up!
As seen on Live At The Apollo (BBC One), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Celebrity Juice (ITV2) and Mock The Week (BBC Two). He is also the voice of Get Your Tats Out: Kavos Inc (Channel 5).
Throughout his career, Andrew has had many sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has also performed at The Amnesty / Channel 4’s Secret Policeman’s Ball (alongside Eddie Izzard, Chevy Chase and Dylan Moran), Glastonbury, Kilkenny’s Cat Laughs, The HBO US Comedy & Arts Festival in Las Vegas (alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock), and made several appearances at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. He is also a founder member of Altitude, a comedy festival staged in the Alps. Andrew has recorded three Live DVDs with 2Entertain (Conflict Revolution, Andrew Maxwell: Live In Dublin & Andrew Maxwell: One Inch Punch).
