Last year, improv and comedy legend Colin Mochrie teamed up with one of the world’s leading hypnotists, Asad Mecci, and together they created one of the most unforgettable and talked about experiences the Fringe has ever seen.
2017 sees the return of their mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, side-splitting sensation. Four to five volunteers whittled down from the audience, hypnotised into a deep sleep, their inhibitions vanished, their minds no longer their own. Cue one of the world’s leading improvisers to steer the hilariously ad-libbed antics for the next 70 minutes and a smash hit is born. With Colin Mochrie in charge for part of the run, and Mike McShane taking the reins for the remaining dates, this will undoubtedly be yet again a Fringe sell-out phenomenon.
NB: A note for audience members wanting to be a part of the show. People queued up as early as 90 minutes before show time last year to be at the front of the auditorium with the best access to the stage. If you are one of the chosen volunteers, you will receive tickets for another night to actually see the show!
MIKE McSHANE (2nd-16th & 25th-28th)
Four time 2017 Emmy nominated (inc. Best Actor) American actor, singer and improvisational comedian, Mike was an original regular contestant on Whose Line Is It Anyway? on Channel 4. Other TV credits include Seinfeld, Malcolm in the Middle and Doctor Who. He played Friar Tuck in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves alongside Kevin Costner, provided the voices for Tuck and Roll in Disney’s A Bug’s Life, and has starred in various Fringe productions over the years, including the highly acclaimed Talk Radio in 2006.
COLIN MOCHRIE (17th-24th August)
A native of Scotland but Canadian-raised, Colin is an alumnus of Toronto’s famous Second City comedy troupe and is widely considered to be one of the leading improvisers in the world. After nine years as a favourite on Channel 4’s Whose Line is it Anyway?, he became a regular on the American version hosted by Drew Carey (ABC) and then a new hit version of Whose Line is it Anyway? (CW Network). Other TV appearances include This Hour Has 22 Minutes (CBC) and Getting Along Famously (CBC), Trust Us With Your Life (ABC) and Colin and Brad: Two Man Group (CW Network). Colin has toured the world with fellow Whoser Brad Sherwood and in 2014 he was named Canada’s Comedy Person of the Year. His first collection of short stories, Not Quite the Classics, is available on Amazon now.
ASAD MECCI (2nd-27th)
Asad Mecci has been involved in the art and science of hypnosis and visualization for over 15 years, entertaining and thrilling spectators around the world with his amazing power of the mind. He has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, MTV, Maxim Online and HGTV. Mecci induces his subjects to ‘see’ themselves in suggested situations, often resulting in hilarious and unexpected events. His rapport with the audience is unmistakable, his connection with them undeniable, as he makes them feel a part of the show rather than just witnesses to it. Mecci says that a “balance of wit and intelligence” is key. “I want to show people that anything is possible… that they can accomplish any goal by using their minds and learning to focus. In this day and age, the concept of mind over matter and having a sense of humour have never been more important”
